October’s right around the corner and Halloween is looming in the not to distant future. With this in mind I chose my pick for this weeks Trailer Tuesday. It’s been 25 years since the murderous Freddy Krueger first haunted the dreams of the teens on Elm Street and I guess that means it’s ripe for a remake. Check it.
Now I’m not the biggest horror fan but I think this trailer shows some promise. The tone of this remake is much darker than the slightly silly and comedic one we have come accustomed to in all of the past alliterations. Another bonus is the inclusion of Jackie Earle Haley, the recent comeback kid of Hollywood. If you are not familiar, Haley nabbed an Academy Award nomination when he played a pedophile in the 2006 film Little Children as well as being the only redeemable part of Zack Snyder’s overwrought adaptation of the classic graphic novel Watchmen. Now on to the one, major factor that causes me to be hesitant about this remake, Michael Bay. The director of such ‘classics’ as Bad Boys II, Armageddon and Transformers having any involvement in this film, or any film for that matter, kinda worries me. Anyways I’m gonna cross my fingers and hope this movie can maybe break the recent horror movie remake curse, we’ll see.
